What is SimpleCare?

SimpleCare is not insurance. It is a program of the Non-Profit organization the American Association of Patients and Providers, or the AAPP. As the largest patient/provider organization in the United States, SimpleCare is dedicated to returning a means of providing common sense, affordable, patient-driven healthcare to individuals and families across the US.

The program was created by three MD’s in Seattle, WA in 1999, who decided there had to be an easier way to provide high quality individualized healthcare without the hassle, inefficiencies and exorbitant pricing schemes of the health insurance industry. These doctors took paying for healthcare back to how it was originally meant to be, an affordable and simple transaction between the patient and provider, similar to how you pay for any other product or service.

How does it work?

Because both you the patient and your healthcare providers become members of the same mutual network, your licensed healthcare providers can legally and ethically offer a fee schedule separate from the charges they may bill insurance companies. SimpleCare does not dictate the pricing or services offered by each provider, allowing each provider to practice their specialty as they see best for their patient or client’s wellbeing. It’s up to each individual provider to decide on a fair fee to charge for his/her services to members who are either uninsured, or whose insurance does not cover the services they seek from a SimpleCare provider. SimpleCare is a perfect solution for members who have a high deductible, catastrophic insurance policy with an HSA (Health Savings Account) attached. You have insurance for unforeseen catastrophic events that we hope never occur, and pay a reasonable fee for the little stuff, like, for example, a sinus infection or minor mental health issues as needed.

We encourage our provider members to look at the average insurance reimbursement for the healthcare services they offer when deciding on a fair price structure. We encourage them to take in to consideration that SimpleCare members are their best patients, as they are paying in full at the time of service, we call this PIFITOS. A patient/client sees a provider, a provider delivers the needed healthcare, and the patient/client pays the provider out of his/her own pocket in full directly after the appointment. Sound revolutionary? Well, it’s not. It’s just old fashioned. That’s the way healthcare costs used to be handled, before the insurance companies took over. No billing, coding, preauthorizing, denials, or accounts receivables. Most providers find that they can charge 20-50% less than what is traditionally billed to insurance, as administrative fees and staff overhead are dramatically cut.

By joining SimpleCare you will be provided with access to a network of licensed healthcare providers in your area who have agreed to offer the lowest price possible on their services to SimpleCare Patient Members. Once enrolled, you will be able to review a packet of materials, manage your account on line and help spread the word about this revolutionary program that has already helped thousands of people just like you afford dignified, high quality healthcare.

If you already see a provider you would like to continue care with that is not a SimpleCare member, please share this information with them and encourage them to join SimpleCare. There is a letter in your membership packet of materials on line that you can give to any licensed healthcare provider, or simply direct them to this website for more information.

SimpleCare allows patients and providers the freedom to take healthcare back into their own hands. Freedom of choice in who you decide to trust in guiding you to better health and wellness is a constitutional right of US citizens. It shouldn’t be a complicated process, involving codes, inflated pricing and restrictions set by some corporate structure who reeps the most gain. It should be simple!

SimpleCare….it just makes sense!
